Although e-mail has become a major means of communication between
students, staff members of the Rutgers College Counseling Center
believe it has significant limitations.
-
E-mail can not guarantee privacy of communications.
Administrators of the system and experienced computer users are
able to monitor e-mail, so confidentiality can not be
assumed.
-
Although e-mail may seem like the fastest way to contact someone
at the Counseling Center, in fact the frequency with which we check
e-mail varies a great deal. Absence from the office, a busy
schedule, or difficulty getting online may mean that several days
may go by before a message is received. Please call the office
(732-932-7884) instead of using e-mail if your message is time-critical.
-
We can't do personal counseling through e-mail. If you want to
receive counseling, please call or visit our offices to make an
appointment with a counselor.
