Academic Interests and Plans
My area of research includes inflammation and the effects of toxicants on the immune system. I am particularly interested in learning how bacterial toxins and environmental pollutants such as ozone interact with the immune system. My research involves analyzing the effects of these toxicants on various signaling pathways, especially in the cells of the lung and placenta. These studies are done using tools in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. I also teach the Flow Cytometry component of the Molecular Toxicology course which includes a lab portion as well.
