Welcome to the website of the Rutgers University Social Cognition Lab, led by Dr. Laurie A. Rudman. Broadly, the research in our lab is concerned with how people process social information. This includes an interest in impression formation, stereotyping processes, social roles and prejudice. In addition, much of the work in the RU Social Cognition Lab employs implicit (or indirect) methods of assessing attitudes, stereotypes, self concept and identity. For example, some of our work uses the Implicit Association Test which relies on response latency data to assess nonconscious associations.
