COMPILATIONS OF CRITICISM & PRIMARY SOURCES
Shakespearean Criticism 1984+ (REF PR2965.S43).
Excerpts from significant criticism of Shakespeare's plays from the first published appraisals to current evaluations. Criticism is arranged chronologically within each play entry to provide a perspective on the changes in critical evaluation over the years. To locate criticism on a specific play or topic, check the cumulative index in the last volume.

Shakespeariana (REF PR2900.S5 Unit-)
 is a compreh ensive collection of literature and documents on William Shakespeare. Over one million pages of literature and documents have been selected and organized into 30 subject units. The material is available on microfiche from the Alexander Library and can be borrowed on Intralibrary loan. Guides are available at the Robeson Library  for the following Units:

BIBLIOGRAPHIES

A bibliography is a list of writings relating to a particular subject, period or author. The most useful of the Shakespeare bibliographies are the following:
Bergeron, D.M. Shakespeare: A Study and Research Guide (REF PR2894.B47 1995). Overview and guide.
Bevington, David. Shakespeare (REF Z8811.B48). Selective bibliography which provides names of books, articles and essays written mainly between 1930 and 1977 which are important in the study of Shakespeare.
Champion, Larry. The Essential Shakespeare: An Annotated Bibliography of Major Modern Studies (REF PR2894.C53 1993).
Annotated list of the most significant items of Shakespearean scholarship from 1900-1991; includes criticism on individual plays.
Ebisch, W. Shakespeare Bibliography (REF Z8811.E18).
 Selective bibliography of material about Shakespeare and his plays. Covers to 1929; supplement extends coverage to 1935. Smith, G.R. A Classified Shakespeare Bibliography 1936-1958 (REF Z8811.S64), cites over 20,000 items.
Garland Shakespeare bibliographies
are a series of annotated bibliographies on individual plays which survey Shakespeare scholarship published from 1940 to the present.
