Locating Books

Locating books in IRIS, the Rutgers Libaries Catalog, can be problematic. The word "Victorian" is usually only used as a subject heading in reference to art and artistic endeavors. Most other subject headings use "19th century" or some other term denoting date. Some relevant subject headings are listed below:

It may be best to try your topic as a "combined terms" search in IRIS. If you find one or two relevant books looks at the subject headings for those books and see what other books are indexed under those terms. You might also ask for assistance at the Reference Desk.
