Program name and description: Project SUPER (Science for Undergraduates: A Program for Excellence in Research). Offers students the opportunity to engage in research in science or engineering during the summer between their first and second years of college. As a prerequisite for the research internship, students enroll in Introduction to Scientific Research during the spring semester of their first year in college.

Participants:
Course and internships are for Douglass College students or affiliates from the School of Engineering, or College of Pharmacy who are in Project SUPER. Students need to be in good academic standing, have completed precalculus before their spring semester, and be taking math, science, or engineering courses to qualify for the course.
Student products:
Students work in groups on independent projects under the supervision of a faculty member. They are required to keep a journal showing their individual work and write a final group report. They also make a final group presentation. Students in the internship need to write a paper and also to present the results of their summer research at a poster presentation session sponsored by the Douglass Project during the fall semester following their summer internship.
