Programs
Program name and description: Biomedical Careers Program (BCP). Eight-week summer enrichment program offered jointly with Robert Wood Johnson Medical school. First/second year students work in groups on microbiology projects in a formal course. Second year students work on Biochemistry in a formal course. Juniors engage in independent research with faculty at Rutgers University. and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and participate in a research/technical communications seminar. Study skills and career exploration are also included in the curriculum.

Participants: Approximately 70 students
The BCP serves disadvantaged students and EOF students of any ethnicity. Students can begin participating during the summer after their first year and can return again for two additional summers.
Student products:
Students in Phases I and II of the BCP present group posters at the end of the program at a formal Symposium. The advanced students (Phase III) make oral presentations on this occasion, following the format of a national scientific conference. Parents, faculty, counselors, and administrators are invited. The Phase III students may also be included on abstracts and publications from their sponsoring laboratories.
