Program name and description: Spring Conference on Hispanic Literature. Each year a specific topic of general interest to scholars of literature and culture is chosen as the focus for the Distinguished Graduate Lecture. Faculty and graduate students teaching literature and culture courses, from the introductory to the graduate levels, structure their courses around the topic and assign readings and writing assignments so that students become familiar with the theoretical issues surrounding the selected topics. In addition, a series of workshops focus on the practical implications of the topic and the ways in which it is lived in specific cultural contexts. Undergraduates who participate in these workshops and in courses that study these same issues in their textual representation are invited to form discussion groups and panels during the two-day conference.
