Institute for Research on Women

Program name and description:     The Institute for Research on Women makes available research apprenticeships to advanced undergraduate students interested in performing library research. Interns, working with the Institute's Director, Associate Director, or visiting scholars (generally faculty members from other universities in the U.S. or abroad), pursue advanced feminist research in a number of specialty areas. Topic areas would vary from year to year according to the Institute's announced themes and the specific disciplinary expertise of visiting scholars.

Participants:   

Participating students are generally juniors or seniors whose coursework and interests have prepared them to undertake independent and directed library research on topics relating to feminist pedagogy and methodology, special topics in women's studies, gender studies and/or feminist approaches to specific disciplinary topics.

Student products:    

Student interns produce annotated bibliographies and/or papers and abridged versions for the Institute's web page which could provide the basis for future presentation or publication.
