WCD moves to Toad Hall!

WCD OFFICE HOURS

I will be on research leave until September 2012. Those who need to contact me in Paris may call (from the U.S.)

011 33 1 43 36 07 75

By regular mail:

William C. Dowling, Box 1181, Palmer Square Station, Princeton, NJ, 08542

Note: please do NOT address mail to me at my departmental address (English Department, Rutgers University). Mailboxes are open to anyone who passes by, and it's easy -- as I've learned to my dismay -- for important mail to get stolen.

 LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

Students who will need letters of recommendation when I return should read my brief guide to procedures. Click here on

"Letters of Recommendation."

WCD is pleased to announce -- with thanks to Professor Cheryl Wall, chairperson extraordinaire, and wonderful Rosalind McInerney, who made it possible-- that he has at last been able to take up permanent residence at 36 Union Street, as a member of the Toad Hall Department of English.

If you've never been to Toad Hall, look at the map below. WCD's office is in 101. (If you look carefully at the picture to the right, you can see WCD waving a friendly greeting as you arrive.)

To get to Toad Hall, just come out the front of Murray and walk ahead until you come out to College Ave. Then turn right and walk down until you come to Mine Street, turn left, walk down until you come to Union Street, and then take a left to Toad Hall. (This takes about 4 minutes.)

If you want to save time, you can cut straight across. The map shows this as attractive greensward, but what is actually there is the grease trucks with two huge parking lots behind them. If you cut through past the grease trucks and dodge the cars trying to find parking places, you can come out on Union St. in 2 minutes.

WCD suggests that you take the longer route. The walk past the grease trucks and through the parking lot is pretty depressing. It is like having died and gone to Albuquerque, New Mexico. When you get to Toad Hall, come in the front door. 101 is the first door on the left. Knock. There you are.
