Clavicipitaceae Differentiation Project

In one project we are trying to identify the environmental and chemical ques that trigger the Clavicipitaceae to differentiate.  We are particularly interested in understanding what compounds from the host plant stimulate fungi such as Balansiaand Epichloeto differentiate a stroma.  We believe that this information is critical to understanding how plants and clavicipitaceous fungi have coevolved.  For this project we will be hiring a post-doctoral chemist to examine aspects of secondary metabolite differentiation.  If you are interested in this position, see the linked job description.
