Abstract:
Cyclodextrins can solubilize hydrophobic molecules in aqueous media. This can lead to either a decrease or an increase in release and membrane penetration of actives depending on whether the compound is itself water soluble or not. More work is needed to prove the value and the scope of cyclodextrins in skin products.
