The SEBS DNA Sequencing Facility was started in 1994 by Dr. Gerben Zylstra in the Biotechnology Center for Agriculture and the Environment. The facility has undergone a variety of equipment upgrades using funding from external and internal sources. The current equipment includes two Applied Biosystems 3100 Automated DNA Sequencers, one dedicated to fragment size analysis under the direction of Dr. Stacy Bonos and one dedicated to DNA sequencing under the direction of Dr. Zylstra. The sequencing facility has a variety of support equipment for high throughput sample preparation. Samples are routinely prepared and analyzed for Rutgers researchers and courses, other academic institutions, and various corporations.
